Hampton 3 v Huntingdon Panthers - 13th May 2013
Hampton 3’s first match of the summer league was a resounding win against Huntingdon Panthers. The first quarter saw shooters Abbie and Claire N working well together in the D allowing us to move into a significant lead. During, the second quarter mid court players Maxine, Rachael and Astrid continually moved into space opening up the play and moving the ball quickly down the court. After a shuffle of players at half time Helen and Abbie made a great shooting partnership whilst Stacey and Astrid blocked almost all the incoming balls at the opponent’s end. The final quarter continued in a similar vein with the final score being 23-5 to Hampton 3. Well done to Stacey who was awarded player of the match for her fantastic defending.
Cambridgeshire U15's Youth League winners!! - 22nd April 2013
Hampton Juniors took part in the Cambridgeshire Under 15's Youth League recently and for this league the team was made up from a mix of Panthers and Jaguars (Tara, Phoebe, Amy, Megan, Olivia, Ellie, Timi, Karlie, Milly, Ellie and Grace). The final match of the league was against Comberton 'A', and as both teams were unbeaten so far this match would decide the winners of the league.
Hampton got off to a good start getting a couple of goals ahead and although Comberton were strong they never quite made up for their slower start. The score was very low showing just how strong both defences were and there were no easy goals for either side. Hampton had a particularly effective defense which resulted in several three second calls against Comberton. Mid court formed a strong unit, supporting each other making the second move, and moving the ball well up the court into the semi circle. The movement in both circles was extremely tight with millimetres between a good pass and an interception. The communication within the shooting circle worked well with Tara and Phoebe rotating and working hard to make themselves available for the pass.
A thrilling, high standard of Netball played by two very well matched teams resulting in a 20 - 18 win to Hampton Juniors. A physical game at times, but Hampton really pushed themselves to achieve a high number of interceptions and turnovers. This really was a team effort and each player should be very proud of their performance.
Congratulations... you deserved the win for the hard work you put in.

Panthers V Co Jags - 17th December 2012
Lost 27 - 35
Panthers played their final match in the County U16's Winter League against Co Jags this evening and what a thrilling match it was! Winning this match or a score within 5 goals would see them through to Regionals, so the pressure was on. With only seven players due to sickness, the match was fast paced from the very start. Amy and Timi's partnership in defence worked really well again, Amy slowing down Co Jags super speedy GA and Timi retrieving the majority of rebounds. It was great having Olivia back from injury supporting defence with her long reach, intercepting balls and moving them forward into mid court. Megan was fantastic support around the semi circle, and together with Karlie they fed strong accurate balls into the shooters which were converted with ease by Phoebe and Tara who both seemed to be on fire this evening! The score was extremely tight throughout, only one or two goals in it, and at the end of the 3rd quarter, Panthers were ahead by only one goal!! During the 4th quarter and with no sub, some of Panthers seemed to tire a little and Co Jags began to take the lead continuing to move the ball with speed and accuracy, securing an 8 goal lead. Final score 27 - 35. This was an exciting match and up until the 4th quarter Panthers were very much in it. Well done girls, it was an exciting match to end the season with, you should all be very proud of yourselves.

Jaguars v Comberton - 17th December 2012
Lost 13 - 52
A hard match to finish the season with. With only seven players due to sickness, a fully committed Jaguars team came up against a very good Comberton team. A really solid performance from defence as they tried everything to prevent the ball getting to the shooters who were just not missing. The ball was moving well through the court but the final pass was causing problems as the Comberton GK was having a good game keeping the ball away from the shooters. Well played to all the girls, you kept your heads up and battled hard throughout the whole match. Players of the match were Milly and Elle.

Hampton 2 v Fusion - 9th December 2012
Lost 23 - 31
On a cold, blustery morning Hampton 2 were out for revenge after the recent loss to Fusion. The match started off very closely,
pretty much goal for goal, the 2nd quarter saw Hampton trail by a few goals, there were a few sloppy passes and static play which enabled Fusion to take the advantage. The 3rd quarter saw Hampton get back in the match but yet again just as we equalled we would lose possession and go a goal or 2 down. In the 4th quarter we lost a few goals on the trot and Fusion opened up a lead of
6 and we are unable to stem the tide and for the 2ndtime in a month had to contend with being beaten. It was a shame as there were some positives, our defence kept battling throughout and definitely caused problems to the Fusion attack and our attack
made good use of passing around the D. We certainly have a few things to put into practice after Christmas, moving onto the ball, passing into space and playing our own game. I also must confess it was not easy taking 9 players, each quarter saw a number of changes being made to enable all players to get plenty of play on this cold day but this meant a lack of continuity, I do think moving
forward 8 players would be an ideal number to take to each match.

Hampton 2 v FGF - 2nd December 2012
Won 46-26
It was a pleasant surprise to be playing in gorgeous sunshine on Sunday and even though we had a depleted team we managed to go to court with 7 people. Although the court was a little dodgy down one side we took a marginal lead in the first quarter with some good movement on court. The 2nd quarter saw FGF lift there game, we became a bit static not moving for the ball but kept a small lead going into the 3rd quarter. In the 3rd we seemed to step up a gear, some great movement round the D from Lyn & Tracey with some great passing from Gemma and Laura (who nearly took each other out in a mid-air collision, thankfully both were ok!) The last quarter saw Kim, Becca & Rachel increase the pressure in defence, either forcing FGF to lob the ball in or just delaying play enough to cause errors. Final score was a 46-26 win to Hampton and player of the match going to Becca. I really must say a big big thank you to Becca, Laura & Gemma for helping out and playing for Hampton 2 on Sunday without you we wouldn’t have been able to field a team which would have been a shame as it was such a good game….well played to all.

Jaguars v MI7 - 26th November 2012
Lost 23 - 42
A horrible night with a slippery court and ball made this game rather difficult for Jaguars. MI7 had two very strong shooters and this was what made all the difference to their team. Unfortunately Tomi and Milly, though they tried everything they could, were unable to keep the ball away from them and they really did not miss. Laura at WD had a very good game being tenacious and very ‘annoying’ to her WA. The attack played well the goals kept going in but the slightest mistake too often resulted in a goal for the opposition. Grace managed this time to stay in her side of the court J, in what was another good performance at WA. There were some periods of excellent play and several times the team started to peg back the goals, but there was nothing they could do against two excellent shooters. Jaguars did not let their heads go down and there was good movement around the shooting semicircle with shooting coming from Claire, Elle and Abbie. A good match but Jaguars were unfortunately beaten by a better team.
Player of the match was Milly.

Panthers v Rookies - 26th November 2012
Won 41 - 21
Panthers played a very confident and relaxed game against Rookies. Ellie teamed up with Tara to shoot for the first half of the match, and they were fed plenty of balls from Phoebe (just back from injury) and Karlie which were converted with confidence. Amy was strong throughout, annoying the Rookies GA keeping her out of the semi circle for much of the game while Megan fought hard against a tall GS, marking her tightly and intercepting many balls feeding them straight back out to mid court. Third quarter Phoebe moved into GA working with Tara, and with great support from Holly in defense intercepting the ball and moving it forward to Karlie and Ellie the lead was increased. Karlies height was an advantage in the last quarter as she swapped positions with Megan to play GK. Confident play throughout from all the girls, lots of team spirit and a pleasure to watch. Player of the match was Megan.

Jaguars v Royston - 25th November 2012
Won 38 - 33
Jaguars battled hard to beat Royston, they got off to a good start, being 3 goals up before Royston worked out how to play against them. The first 2 quarters were very close with goals going pretty much with Centre pass. We had an interesting back line pass set play when Grace ran into the defending third received the ball from Tomi and sent it on it’s way. Nice play and as it was not seen by the umpire we kept very quiet and then had a laugh at half time. Third quarter Jaguars had got the measure of Royston and started to pull away with some excellent play from Abbie, Grace and Elle who had great movement and sent some good balls into Claire, which were converted with her usual accuracy. The defense were working well, with the Royston attack being well controlled, with tight marking from Tomi, Milly and Devon, and a good number of intercepts. Fourth quarter there was a little wobble from Jaguars but they held on to a convincing win. Player of the match was Claire.

Panthers v Foxes - 19th November 2012
Won 36 - 16
A dreadful wet and windy evening saw Panthers secure another win. With Phoebe unable to play through injury, Ellie and Karlie took turns to team up with Tara to shoot and between them the goals increased securing a good lead. Foxes fought hard, but with Amy and Timi intercepting many balls in the semi circle, Foxes struggled to get many attempts to shoot. There was confident play from Megan
again as WA, with great movement around the semi circle from Karlie and Ellie too when they played C, between them feeding in plenty of balls. Holly's height as WD was an advantage intercepting many balls moving them forward onto the attackers. A comfortable win for the girls.Player of the match was Amy.

Hampton 2 v UPL - 11th November 2012
Won 33 - 17
On a surprisingly chilly but sunny morning Hampton 2 were looking to continue their winning streak….and the 1st quarter looked like it was going to be a fairly easy game with Hampton taking a 8-2 lead, our defence (Sam & Kim) were on fine form and it forced UPL to throw some wild balls to the shooters which either resulted in an interception or it not being received. The 2nd quarter saw UPL fight back and get back in the match by scoring the first 4 goals of the quarter, but we dug deep and with some great movement from Jo (Centre) we kept the pace and got back in the game keeping a marginal lead. Into the 3rd quarter and unfortunately an injury to one of the UPL shooters took them down to 6 players, now often this can make it just as hard for the team with 7 as the spare player doesn’t always know what to do but Rachel (WA) managed really well and positioned herself to enable feeding into the shooters much easier. Shooting duo Tracey (GS) and Lyn (GA) continued to convert into goals and the lead increased with Hampton 2 winning 33-17. Player of the match for the 2nd match running went to Sam…Well played all….see you all next Sunday, fingers crossed for the continued sunshine.

Hampton 4 v Crowland Belles 2 - 11th November 2012
Won 23 - 15
Last Sunday, Hampton 4 played Crowland Belles 2 in a very exciting match. Due to a slight lack in communication Hampton 4 only had 6 players, so we started with a big disadvantage. Helen stepped into GS with good results and brilliant movement around the circle; even though the court was extremely slippery. Having worked hard we finished the first quarter 5-2 up. Crowland Belles then swapped their players around in order to make the best of having an extra player. Both defenders (Astrid and Alice) worked extremely hard to stop Crowland 2 establishing a lead. Due to fantastic shooting from Helen and Karlie we finished 12-5 at half time and 17-10 after the third quarter. In the final quarter Crowland Belles 2 got increasingly frustrated as we took some fab interceptions. Play was stopped by the umpire with a warning for too much contact by both teams! We then continued and the final score was 23-15 to us. Well played Hampton 4. Player of the match went to Karlie.

Panthers v Royston - 21st October 2012
Won 31 - 35
Due to unavailability, our thanks this week to Grace for agreeing to help Panthers out and also to Claire when asked to play at the very last minute due to an illness of one of the Panthers players making a complete team. Even with all the changes to the team, swapping of positions and the very slippery court conditions, they all pulled together established a lead which was held throughout the game and won by 4 goals. Player of the match was Tara.

Jaguars v Co-Jags - 21st October 2012
Lost 5 - 55
A really tough match for Jaguars with a much depleted team. The opposition were very strong this being their second season in the Under 16's league. The first quarter was a shock for Jaguars and they came off court at quarter time looking shell shocked! Following a tough team talk Jaguars upped their game and defended well, putting the opposition under pressure causing a couple of held ball turnovers. Centre court worked well with great movement from both Megan and Abbie, and some excellent support from the defenders. There was also good movement in the attacking third especially when GS moved out of the circle to support. Shooting was difficult as Co Jags defence were very tall and very physical, hence Jaguars low score. This was a great match for the girls and I hope that none of them are downhearted with their performance, they all played to a high level and today were just beaten by a better team. The only way that the team will improve is if they play against players of this standard so well done everyone, you may not have won but you put up a great performance. Player of the match was Abbie.

Hampton 3 v Huntingdon Panters - 21st October 2012
Won 31-7
Hampton 3 enjoyed an eventful game against Huntingdon Panthers this morning. We welcomed new player Helen to the team and what a great addition she was! Partnering Kelly in the D the goals started coming, pushing Hampton into an early lead. The wet courts proved treacherous as Nina did a spectacular bum plant halting the game for a moment. Undeterred but a bit more cautiously, we continued to push ahead. Sian and Kate partnered well in defense, keeping the oppositions score down. We were really pleased to see Nafisa back in action, alternating positions with Cally, they proved to be equally as effective in defense as we know they are when on the attack! Cally is forging ahead up the injury league table.. this week removing her nail whilst battling for the ball. Plasters for the next game! Cushioned by a comfortable lead we swapped around for the final quarter leaving Kate to show she's just as talented in our D, helping to push our score to 31. We certainly worked hard for our win, with a fantastic effort by the whole team. Player of the match was shared by Helen and Nina.

Hampton 3 v Crowland Belles 3 - 7th October 2012
A chilly but sunny 10am start saw Hampton 3 meet Crowland Belles 3. We were delighted to welcome Kate to the team (very brave as she hasn't met any of us before) and were very grateful to Max for making up our numbers. It was a good match, without injury this week (Cally!). Great shooting from the dynamic duo of Kelly and Emma pushed us into a strong lead. Newbie Kate did a fantastic job in the D with Sian 'powerarm'! While Max, Jackie, Cally and Nina worked hard to keep possession in the middle. Captain Emma mixed things up for the second half and Kate showed off her shooting skills. Final score was 52-2 with Kate getting a well deserved player of the match!
Hampton 2 v Coca Cola – 7th October 2012
It was great to be playing netball on a glorious sunny morning almost forgot it was October….fingers crossed that this weather holds a
bit longer for us! This was our 3rd match of this winter season and we were going for our 3rd win. The match was a close one with the lead being shared for the first half of the match, we would pull ahead by a few then the Coca Cola would reel us back in. There was some good movement on court even with the dodgy slippy end….it was also great to see Mum & Daughter (Lyn & Tara) combination shooting for the first half. Just a couple of changes were made in the second half and we gradually started to get a small lead which we
kept to the end…winning 40-32. A big thank you to Hannah for playing even though she was still fighting off a chest infection and a massive well done for Sam getting Player of the Match on her first game back for Hampton 2.

Cambridge County Junior Tournament September 2012
Panthers recently won the Cambs County U 16's pre season tournament at Impington, Cambridge. They had to play everyone once (8 games) and only lost one match to Hampton's other junior team Jaguars. So, they got through to the final against Comberton and had an excellent match, winning by 2 goals. This is a fantastic achievement as Panthers and Jaguars have just moved into this age group (from U14's) so they are the younger ones of this league playing against teams with many older players.
Players: (from left to right) Megan, Holly, Tara, Phoebe, Olivia, Karlie, Amy and Timi. Ellie also played; however she was injured during the match and was being treated by paramedics when this picture was taken!.

Wisbech Tournament September 2012
On Sunday 9th September two teams from Hampton Ladies Netball Club participated in a charity tournament at Thomas Clarkson Community College in Wisbech. The day kicked off with each team playing five 12-minute matches against the other teams in their league. Hampton 1 finished third in their league having won two and lost three matches. Hampton 2 finished second in their league having won four matches and only losing their final one. This meant that both teams had a chance of winning the cup! We stopped for lunch, glad for the break, considering the 27-degree heat, and then found out that in the quarterfinals we had to play each other! After a well-fought match Hampton 1 won and were through to the semi-finals. However, the heat began to take its toll and Hampton 1 were beaten by Rookies B, who then went on to play Rookies A in the final. Even so, we had a fantastic day both playing and watching games.
